Most of our childhood memories are of summer vacations and family times. So let’s make them special but also let’s plan ahead and choose a place where every member of the family can enjoy, have fun and relax. If you have the time and can afford it, the Caribbean all-inclusive resorts are a great option for families.

We did a little research and our number one spot this summer is the Carlisle Bay Resort in the Caribbean Island of Antigua. While Mom and Dad relax at the beach, the kids can enjoy the kids club for children starting at 6 month.  The Carlisle Bay kids club is free for children 2 years old and older.

Caribe Vacaciones

Our second choice is Buccament Bay Resort on the beautiful island of St Vincent. The property’s 95 villas are located on an unspoiled, uncrowded coast. Kids will love that Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed in this area. And Buccament Bay even has its own Pirates’ ship. Other attractions include the resort’s partnership with Liverpool Football Club Soccer School, which offers kids ages 5 and up a chance to train with professionals. With the excitement of the World Cup in Brazil, kids will be thrilled to train and play!

Our third choice is Beaches Turks and Caicos, an all-inclusive on beach-blessed Providenciales (the most populated of the 40 Turks and Caicos Islands, located just a 100-minute flight from Miami). Beaches Resort is full of delighted parents who can’t quite believe that they’re on vacation with their kids and things are going well. Four distinctive themed enclaves share a 45,000-square-foot water park (Pirates Island is a fantasy world filled with gigantic waterslides, kid-friendly pools and swim-up soda bars, as well as the Caribbean’s only surf simulator) and for those of you still wanting to dance the night out – a 21-and-under nightclub! Beaches Turks & Caicos has been awarded #1 top family hotel in the Caribbean by Travel+Leisure and Best All-Inclusive by Caribbean Travel+Life. Plus, the resort is located on a stretch of beach so perfect that it was voted “Best of all island beaches worldwide” by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler.

Our fourth choice is Round Hill in Jamaica. Families have long retreated to Round Hill Hotel and Villas in Montego Bay, Jamaica, where they go to great lengths to please even the smallest guests. They warmly welcome everyone to enjoy their on-site activities and amenities to ensure that a good time is had by all. Their special children’s programs offer fun-filled opportunities for kids to be active, creative, adventurous, and imaginative which is one of the many reasons they are a favorite amongst family resorts in the Caribbean. Round Hill is situated on a private peninsula with 110 acres, children are free to explore the resort and it only takes a few hours for the Round Hill staff to learn everyone’s name and look after them while they enjoy everything that this spacious Jamaica family resort has to offer. Round Hill is also large enough to allow couples and families to enjoy their own private time in equal measure.

Finally, we vote for Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, just a short flight away from Brickell and Key Biscayne. The coral-pink fantasy castle of the Bahamas’ only megaresort is visible from miles away (by land or sea). The main resort has some 2,300 guest rooms, a massive casino, a 63-slip marina filled with luxury yachts, 40-odd restaurants and bars, and too many activities and entertainment options to count (did we mention the 63-acre waterpark?). It’s Disney World in the Caribbean!

Finally and as always, these are just a few of the many beautiful kid-friendly resorts. We bet you can share with us other wonderful vacation spots! Let us know which one is your favorite and recommend us fellow moms!

Sweet touch – benefits for the little ones http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2013/06/18/quality-time-tips/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2013/06/18/quality-time-tips/#comments Tue, 18 Jun 2013 03:43:25 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=89 Oh sweet massage…touch is a natural instinct that is present in all human beings. Stroking and soothing babies by rubbing them is a practice that takes place since ages and in different parts of the world. There are many benefits for babies – “Every child, no matter the age, should be massaged at bedtime on a regular basis.” So says Tiffany Field, Ph.D., of the Touch Research Institute (TRI) in Miami. Researchers at the Touch Research Institute (TRI) here in Miami have worked diligently over the past decade proving the benefits of massage for children.

  • Regular massage reduces stress levels and boosts feel-good hormones, it also helps pre-matured babies put on weight.
  • It encourages good sleeping patterns, it might help relieve gas, colic, constipation, and help when baby is teething.

Massage is one of the most delightful and effective physical therapies you can share with your baby, and one of the easiest to learn. So why not learn a few of the basic massage techniques and treat your baby and yourself to the loving touch that will provide feelings of peacefulness, happiness and relaxation to both of you!

Let’s have tea! http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2013/06/16/lets-have-tea/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2013/06/16/lets-have-tea/#comments Sun, 16 Jun 2013 03:41:54 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=46 teatimeWhat a lovely way to spend an afternoon relaxing and mingling with girlfriends enjoying some tea at a beautiful, quiet place! Surprisingly there are no such places in Brickell and/or Key Biscayne. The closest and best bet is at the historic South Florida icon tower – The Biltmore Hotel. The vaulted ceiling and majestic mantled fireplace provides all the features that would resemble England’s finest tearooms. Tea is served at 3:00 pm and 4:30 p.m.  Monday through Friday in the hotel lobby.

Make sure to call for reservations before showing up. Phone: 305.445.1926 or visit www.biltmorehotel.com.

When our hearts feel joyful, the practice of yoga and meditation can be themselves playful. The lessons we learn in this path: equanimity, focus, stability, resilience, perseverance, union, connection and balance translate well into the language and practice of play and it is possible to bring these into playtime with children. When we incorporate these, we can cultivate an experience of attunement: being or bringing into harmony; a feeling of being “at one” with another being. When that synchronicity happens through play, it builds a healthy foundation for interpersonal relationships.

Our resistance to pure play with our own children can be compared to our resistance to being present in yoga. I hear from people who don’t like yoga that “yoga is boring,” and I hear from parents that, “making the trucks go brrrrr and changing the doll’s clothes doesn’t hold a candle to watching the Heat.”
