Simple Father’s Day Gifting Ideas 2019 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2019/06/13/simple-fathers-day-gifting-ideas-2019/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2019/06/13/simple-fathers-day-gifting-ideas-2019/#comments Thu, 13 Jun 2019 21:58:42 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=7096 Shopping for guys is both really hard and yet simple. I feel options are limited and to be honest somehow boring. I have asked a few friends for ideas about what they do for this special day. Some of them get their husbands whatever they need – be it a shirt, a tie or a perfume. Some get them a nice experience such as tickets to a game with the kids or a nice brunch at home. I usually go for both, I get him an everyday basic -something he might not buy for himself such as a nice aftershave plus I involved the girls and put together some “kid-made” cards and a nice and healthy breakfast. We have put together a few basics which we think dad might like.

34 Things to do with the kids this summer in Miami (2019) http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2019/05/06/34-things-to-do-with-the-kids-this-summer-in-miami/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2019/05/06/34-things-to-do-with-the-kids-this-summer-in-miami/#comments Mon, 06 May 2019 16:20:38 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=7084 Tower

Miami is a wonderful place to be. Whether you live here or you are visiting there are plenty of activities to do with the family. Every year during summer we post our list of favorites. Whether you want to enjoy the sunshine outside, get away from the rain! or cool off indoors. Read on for a summer of events, festivals, crafts, music, games, movies, and more (we have a few repeats from last year, because they were awesome!)

  • Head north and get a glimpse or experience the Aventura Slide Tower–  both a towering landmark and exhilarating slide at the entrance to Aventura Mall’s expansion wing this nearly 93-foot-tall spiral structure by Belgian artist Carsten Höller is generating a big buzz – go check it out!
  • Explore the local children’s museum– there is always a new fun exhibit for the little ones!
  • Go for ice-cream at the oh-so trendy ice cream spot inside 1-800-Lucky and try the famous fish or unicorn cones.
  • Get again artsy and experience hands-on activities for kids, free second Saturdays of the month at PAMM.
  • Get splashed on and enjoy marine animal encounters, exhibits and shows closer to the Miami action.
  • Enjoy nature at its best, environmental education, seagrass adventures, birdwatching, hammock hikeand more!
  • Hit the ice when the weather is too hot or too rainy at state of the art 12,885 square ft. ice skating rink in Miami!
  • Head North, a bit outside Miami to explore 40,000-square-feet of activitieswith an epic main attraction: a trampoline court with interlocking trampolines.
  • Experience two days of the king of tropical fruit at all mango international festival.
  • Enjoy a family day at Miami Design District,no worries if you miss it, still plenty of fun things to do and see at this wonderful paradise of shops, museums, coffee shops and restaurants any other day of the week.
  • Become a scientist and enjoy exhibits, planetarium and aquarium at the spectacular Frost Science anytime during the week.
  • If indoor is what you are looking for, there is a great addition to Miami’s indoor playgrounds – Fundimension– Walk a few blocks south from where most of the artsy action is in Wynwood and you’ll find a massive warehouse-turned-indoor-arcade with not just video games, but also laser tag, bumper cars and a 7-D theater.
  • Looking to expose your kids to wild animals? Everglades Alligator Farms’might be for you then. While there’s an alligator feeding show and a snake show, most of the attraction is watching employees at the farm bravely wrestle giant creatures for your entertainment. The facility also offers airboat rides for a different type of adrenaline rush.
  • Introduce your kids to some history and culture of the Miccosukee tribe at the Miccosukee Indian Village.Kids will learn and have fun browsing authentic crafts and patchwork, sampling the tribe’s cuisine and visiting the Indian Museum, which is packed with artifacts and exhibits.
  • Every kid loves Italian food (pizza or pasta are my kids favorites) so while dining out with kiddos during summer do not think it over. Check out 2 of our favorites, Casa Tua Cucinaand North Italia.
  • Go for a stroll, search for wildlife, and visit the lighthouse for a spectacular view at the KB Lighthouse-if your little one is over 42 inches tall anyway.
  • Fly a kite in best kite park in Miami – Haulover Beach Park.
  • Take a family bike ride on a kid-friendly biking trail.

  • Step back in time, become a mermaid at a cave-like grotto and cool off at best nature-based pool ever!
  • If you are looking for a quite yet entreating outing in the hidden gem of Palm Grove Historic District, then Ironside is your choice. A vibrant, mixed-use urban center with rainbow eucalyptus trees.
  • Let your kids go rock climbing, exploring art, taking cool pictures at hipster neighborhood Wynwood– while you are at it take a salty break.
  • Enjoy having hundreds of butterflies from all over the tropical world fluttering around you –  Learn and experience the world of a butterfly.
  • Head to South Beach, cool off and later let kids tumble over the astroturf mat on oval hump while you try to do some window shopping on our version of 5th Avenue in Miami Beach.
  • Let the kids become Tarzan at the jungle, experience feeding primates running loose while you walk through a series of tunnel cages.
  • Go bowling. and get some indoor time at the Shops at Sunset.
  • Be wowed at a fairy tale architecture and waterfront Italian Renaissance-style villa, take a quick tour of the interior and head to the labyrinth and maze gardens.
  • Experience life in old days Miami by exploring crafts, music and storytelling at History Miami, Family Fun days are on second Saturdays of the month and they are free.
  • Visit your local library for summer library program events: musical performances, puppet shows, book clubs, movies, workshops, etc.

33 things to do with Kids in Miami this Summer http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2018/07/12/33-things-to-do-with-kids-in-miami-this-summer/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2018/07/12/33-things-to-do-with-kids-in-miami-this-summer/#comments Thu, 12 Jul 2018 18:46:37 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=6990 umbrellas

  • On National Ice Cream Day, July 15th take a trolley tour and stop for ice-cream at a one of our new European favorite gelaterias.  Or take advantage of  Freddo’s  40% off purchases right in the heart of Brickell.
  • Experience two days of the king of tropical fruit this coming weekend at all mango international festival.
  • Enjoy a family day at Miami Design District Sunday July 15, no worries if you miss it, still plenty of fun things to do and see at this wonderful paradise of shops, museums, coffee shops and restaurants paradise any other day of the week.
  • Become a scientist and enjoy exhibits, planetarium and aquarium at the spectacular Frost Science anytime during the week.
  • If indoor is what you are looking for, there is a great addition to Miami’s indoor playgrounds – Walk a few blocks south from where most of the artsy action is in Wynwood and you’ll find a massive warehouse-turned-indoor-arcade with not just video games, but also laser tag, bumper cars and a 7-D theater.
  • Introduce your kids to some history and culture of the Miccosukee tribe at the Miccosukee Indian Village. Kids will learn and have fun browsing authentic crafts and patchwork, sampling the tribe’s cuisine and visiting the Indian Museum, which is packed with artifacts and exhibits.
  • Every kid loves Italian food (pizza or pasta are my kids favorites) so while dining out with kiddos during summer do not think it over While it seems that a bit of Italy has moved to Brickell, we recommend a new addition to the Wynwood area – Sette Osteria (2103 NW 2nd Avenue).
  • Go for a stroll, search for wildlife, and visit the lighthouse for a spectacular view at the KB Lighthouse-if your little one is over 42 inches tall anyway.

15 + 1 things to do before school starts http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2017/08/02/15-1-things-to-do-before-school-starts/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2017/08/02/15-1-things-to-do-before-school-starts/#comments Wed, 02 Aug 2017 20:35:58 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=6785 catch a butterfly

Summer is almost over, already? If you read any mom related media everyone is talking about back to school. Well there are exactly three weeks left before school starts for most of us in Miami. I do not know how you feel about that, but personally I am not extremely excited. It is back to scheduling, homework, projects and school meetings among other duties. Here is a list of a few things I am planning on doing with my kids before school is back. Because there is still time to enjoy!

As you will read, my list has nothing to do with typical back to school checklists such as stocking up on healthy snacks, buying School supplies or arranging car pools among other important to-dos.

No! I am talking about those fun things you should do before the end of summer is over! Because your kids are little only once in your lifetime! Please share with me if you have any additions to my list!

Balloon fight

  • 1- Enjoy no scheduled activities for a day, sleep in, have late breakfast, watch cartoons in the morning and go for a family outing with no clear destination.
  • 2- Climb a tree…just because.
  • 3- Enjoy a day at the beach with no extra bags – simply swimwear, sun protection (swimming diapers and milk if you have a baby). If you all get hungry,  head over to a local diner for lunch (my new favorite lolo’s cantina in Miami Beach) – who cares if you look salty and sandy – you are a tourist anyway for the day!
  • 4- Finish my summer reading and encourage my kids to do so as well.
  • 5- Spend an afternoon volunteering at a local hospital (works the same for animal shelter, nursing home or beach cleaning)
  • 6- Have a water balloon fight.
  • 7- Invite friends over and make a slime party (do not forget food coloring!
  • 8- Go on a butterfly walk and enjoy local wildlife.
  • 9- Take a family bike ride on a kid-friendly biking trail.
  • 10- Make it a late Movie night in the middle of the week. Visit Brickell City Center and splurge on a popcorn included VIP seating.
  • 11- Head to Fresh Fruit Paradise and grab the best milkshakes in Miami while kids pet their favorite farm animals. (yes, cheating – Still pending from my things to do with the kids this summer)
  • 12- Hop on a vintage carousel at beautiful 2-mile beach.
  • 13- Make a living room camping night on a Tuesday night.
  • 14- Let your kids go rock climbing, exploring art, taking cool pictures at hipster neighborhood Wynwood.
  • 15- Hit the ice when the weather is too hot or too rainy  at state of the art 12,885 square ft. ice skating rink in Miami!
  • This is just for us: binge watch on my favorite Netflix series on a Monday night.

7 ice-cream-gelato options kids will love in Miami http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2017/07/17/7-ice-cream-gelato-options-kids-will-love-in-miami/ http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/2017/07/17/7-ice-cream-gelato-options-kids-will-love-in-miami/#comments Mon, 17 Jul 2017 23:33:25 +0000 http://www.brickellandkbmoms.com/?p=6763 Gelato

Why is the following gelato option list great for any kid and mom? Because it is summer and who does not want gelato when it is so hot? Also, I have thought of all the gelato stores you can go as a family outing – get ice-cream and do a “paseito” at the same time – either take a nice walk, do window shopping, play and run around or visit a local neighborhood.

  • Freddo: artisanal gelato made according to the Argentine tradition, best dulce de leche and zabaione  in the world! Indoor and outdorr seating as well as kids table available. They deliver and also have a store in Downtown Doral! – 1102 S Miami Ave, Brickell.

freddo

  • Yogurberry Merrick Park –  frozen yogurt chain my kids love- it is great yogurt, nice service and best location. Take a break while you check stores out in Merrick Park. You can seat out and kids can eat frozen yogurt while they play with the outdoor fontanas in the main plaza of the mall.  320 San Lorenzo Ave, Coral Gables.
  • Bertoni – artisanal Gelato and more, I personally like their café con leche. Delivery available. Nice Brickell location, overlooking the Bay  but the Key Biscayne location is also cute. 1300 Brickell Bay Dr., Brickell.
  • Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream‎ – the only dessert option within Brickell City Center, ice-cream is as good as any haagen-dazs – my only concern is that if you go with kids which you will most certainly will – you better be ready to eat your gelato standing up. There is no seating available, maybe a matter of time? .Brickell City Center – 701 S Miami Ave, Brickell.

bertoni

  • Yogen Fruz – Key Biscayne laid back local frozen yogurt loved by key rats.  328 Crandon Blvd Suite #109, Key Biscayne.
  • Bianco Gelato –  Serving up organic, freshly made gelato in the heart of Coconut Grove, it really has unique flavor combos and healthiest options. A few weeks ago I was on a detox and was able to get free-sugar ice-cream which was pretty good! 3137 Commodore Plaza, Coconut Grove.
  • Gelateria 4D – one of the Ice Cream Shops on Lincoln Road – it offers several flavors plus other cold treats such as shakes & banana splits – Great option if you head to the beach to cool off and later plan for ice-cream.  670 Lincoln Rd Mall, Miami Beach.
