    2nd MIAMI SCHOOL FAIR 2014

Brickell and KB Moms presented its 2nd Miami School Fair, a free community event that took place Saturday, November 8 at the Bayside Pavilion, Mercy Campus. Mercy Hospital was the 2nd School Fair main Sponsor. Honorable Anitere Flores, Member of the Florida Senate opened the Conference Program and shared her thoughts and insights on being a mom and the various educational options in Miami.

We are happy that at the Fair, parents were able to collect information, learn from the experts, talk to educators and providers, evaluate opportunities for their child, and more – all in one place. During the Conference parents had the opportunity to hear from the experts about the different preschool philosophies, their views on entering the school system, application processes, bilingual and bicultural education and other relevant educational issues.

Miami-Dade Public Schools represented by the Parent Academy as well as over twenty private Schools in the Miami area were present at the expo. The conference program counted with over fifteen speakers including among others:  Pamela Hollingsworth, M. Ed., Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives and Program Development, Early Learning Coalition, of Miami Dade/Monroe, Angela K. Salmon, Ed.D, Associate Professor & Program Leader, Early Childhood Education, Dpt. Teaching and Learning from Florida International University, Marlene Leyte-Vidal, Principal of Sunset Elementary School, Federico Alonso Alonso, Technical Advisor, Education Office, Consulate General of Spain. Renny Neyra, District Director at the Parent Academy, Miami-Dade County Public Schools as well as Directors of Admission Elena Castellanos at Gulliver Schools and Cathie D’Arcy from St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School.

We are grateful to The Pérez Art Miami Museum who hosted our Art Storytelling at the kids’ area and Gap Lincoln Road who provided coloring activities for the kids and discounts for parents.  Kind Bars and Happy Family were supporters of the healthy snacks. Among other community supporters we would like to thank: Consulate General of Spain, Consulate of Argentina, Brickell Homeowners Association, Key Biscayne Chamber of Commerce and City Year Miami.
