If you are around for the 4th of July do not miss all the Celebrations and Fireworks! There are so many festivities to choose from in our communities! Here are a few!
In the spirit of celebration, we’d love to share some culinary advice. For this 4th of July, Whole Foods Market is suggesting a new way of creating a typical dish – the Kimchi burgers! Ingredients and method below. Enjoy and Happy 4th!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef, shaped into 4 patties
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup light sour cream
1 tablespoon smoky barbecue sauce
4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 head butter lettuce, separated into leaves
1 large tomato, sliced
4 whole wheat or sesame seed hamburger buns, split and toasted
1/2 cup prepared kimchi (Korean fermented cabbage), at room temperature
Preparation:
Prepare a grill for medium-high heat cooking. Season burgers all over with salt and pepper. Meanwhile, stir together sour cream and barbecue sauce in a small bowl; set aside.
Grill burgers, flipping halfway through, until cooked to your liking, about 8 to 12 minutes. During the last few minutes of cooking, top each burger with a slice of cheese. Arrange lettuce and tomatoes on the bottom half of each bun and then top with burgers, reserved sauce and kimchi, and serve immediately.
