  • Vacationing at home

My daughter and I just experienced what it is to be vacationing in our own city. If you have stayed in Miami throughout the summer or just came back from a nice vacation but need a quick break before back to school craziness you will love this!

I took a day off from work and decided to book a spa day at the local Ritz Carlton KB to take advantage of the wonderful packages they currently offer. If you did not read my previous post you probably missed that July and August are Spa Months in Miami. That means that during the two hot months we can enjoy special treatments for $99 as part of the Program organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Back to the main point, while I was enjoying my massage and day spa, my six year daughter was enjoying her day at the Ritz Kids program. Yes, a kids program that is opened not only for guests but also for local kids and that is both entertaining and educational! Even better, the program leverages Ritz exclusive partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and his unique environmental expertise, and crafts experiences that are both fascinating and exciting to kids. My daughter  read ocean books with an amazing teacher and explored the different ways in which our planet works and how we can better protect it. Upon picking her up, I discovered that the Ritz Kids experiences taps into the innate scientist curiosity of most kids by introducing kids to both the natural wonders and the rich cultural traditions of the Key Biscayne resort. They have different activities based on the four pillars of the program – water, land, environmental responsibility and culture – kids are swept away by everything from coral reefs and forests, to recycling and sustainability, storytelling, art and even food. She loved it, in fact she wants to come back!

My spa experience was amazing but what was much more rewarding was enjoying my daughter’s experience at such an enriching place. So, next time you are thinking of vacationing far away consider our local jewels.
